She stated she was depressed, suicidal, and confused after losing her partner and job, leading her to confide in a friend about having cancer.
Miller asserts this was not a long-term deception, that a fundraising video was set up by a friend without her full knowledge, and that she immediately shut down the page and took no money. However, her recent apology video, which has garnered over 12 million views, is estimated to have earned her between £5,000 and £15,000 through the TikTok Creator Fund, sparking speculation that financial gain was the motive for her confession.
Friends suggest that for some influencers, scandals can lead to increased earnings, and that Miller has managed to conceal the truth for years by moderating comments on her social media.
