American teacher and his son are killed by swarm of hornets while ziplining in Laos

Daniel Owen, 47, and his 15-year-old son Cooper were killed by a swarm of Asian giant hornets while on a ziplining holiday in Laos. The incident occurred on October 15 at an eco-adventure resort near Luang Prabang. The father and son were attacked while descending from a tree during their ziplining activity. Sources reported that the pair suffered numerous stings, estimated to be over one hundred each, across their bodies. They were conscious upon arrival at a local clinic, but died hours later after being transferred to the provincial hospital.
