Paddy Pimblett's wife, Laura Pimblett, has provided a health update following his unanimous decision loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324 in Las Vegas. Gaethje claimed the UFC interim lightweight championship in the five-round bout, with judges scoring it 48-47, 49-46, and 49-46. Despite the defeat, Laura expressed immense pride in her husband, sharing a supportive message on Instagram stating he is "absolutely fine and will be back."
Following the fight, Pimblett was taken to the hospital due to the brutal striking battle he endured with Gaethje, who was also visibly marked from the match. UFC president Dana White confirmed that Pimblett was sent straight to the hospital, and Gaethje was also to be checked. Pimblett's close friend and fellow UFC fighter Molly McCann also posted a heartfelt message, acknowledging the loss but emphasizing that Pimblett will grow from the experience.
Pimblett, who was 7-0 in the UFC before this fight, spoke after the bout about his support for men's mental health, mentioning the loss of two close friends since his last fight. He also paid tribute to former Liverpool player Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, who passed away last year. Pimblett expressed respect for his opponent, Justin Gaethje, stating he couldn't think of a better person to lose to, given he grew up watching him, and felt the judges' scorecards were fair.
