Three NYPD officers rescued a teenage girl from the freezing Harlem River after hearing her screams for help. Bodycam footage shows the officers calling out to the girl, who was struggling in the water about 20 feet from shore. One officer immediately removed his jacket and jumped into the icy river to reach her, while another officer moved along a narrow ledge to assist.
The officers, identified as Ankit Gupta, Wilmer Guerrero, and Shuaibul Amine from the 32nd Precinct, worked together to pull the girl to safety. The NYPD stated that their officers did not hesitate to save a life. Officer Gupta expressed gratitude for the team effort, emphasizing that it gave the girl a second chance, and Officer Amine noted that saving someone is what they signed up for in their profession.
