Laura Loomer has claimed responsibility for the resignation of Marjorie Taylor Greene, her long-time rival. Following Greene's announcement that she would not be returning to Congress after the Christmas break, Loomer posted on X, stating "LOOMERED," implying her actions led to Greene's departure.
The feud between Loomer and Greene intensified recently, particularly after President Donald Trump disavowed Greene, who was previously a strong supporter. Loomer suggested Greene's resignation was timed for maximum political impact and speculated that Greene might be seeking a deal with cable news networks or aiming to win the presidency in 2028.
Loomer also characterized Greene's move as a manipulative tactic typical of women seeking attention. Loomer, who has a history of publicly targeting individuals she deems disloyal to Trump, has previously boasted about her influence on the White House, though the White House has downplayed her impact.
Greene, in her resignation statement, cited a refusal to be a "battered wife" due to attacks from within the Republican and MAGA movements and expressed concerns about facing a difficult primary. Loomer had previously predicted Greene would switch to the Democratic party and compared herself to Senator Joseph McCarthy.
