A 6-year-old boy was mistakenly placed on the wrong school bus after school at Victory Villa Elementary in Baltimore County. His mother had arranged for him to be picked up from school by a daycare, but he was instead put on his regular neighborhood bus.
Another parent discovered the child with their son and contacted the school, which then alerted the mother. School officials attributed the incident to a "miscommunication" regarding which bus the child was supposed to take.
The child was transported to his neighborhood bus stop and subsequently taken home by a classmate's parent, who then notified the school. The school then arranged for the child to be reunited with his mother.
The child was reportedly upset and cried because he believed the incident was his fault. This is not the first instance of a child being put on the wrong bus in Baltimore County Public Schools.
The school has apologized and stated they are implementing new measures to prevent similar occurrences.
