Birmingham City has unveiled images of a proposed new 62,000-seater stadium, named 'The Birmingham City Powerhouse', with chairman Tom Wagner aiming to bring the club back to the Premier League. The stadium, designed by Heatherwick Studio and MANICA Architecture, is intended to be completed within five years and will draw inspiration from the heritage of the West Midlands.
Wagner expressed his excitement about the project, stating it will be a unique and distinctive landmark for Birmingham, drawing attention to the region on a global stage. The design includes an interchangeable pitch and a roof that can close in 20 minutes.
The announcement was made during a launch event and featured a video including former player Jude Bellingham and co-owner Tom Brady, who indicated that the stadium would also host NFL matches. Wagner emphasized that the stadium is "football first" and designed to give the team a competitive advantage.
