AI models given $10K to compete in first-of-its-kind crypto-trading competition — and most crashed and burned

Six popular AI models were given $10,000 each to compete in a cryptocurrency trading competition, but most performed poorly. The contest, organized by Nof1, ran from October 17 to November 3 and involved trading Bitcoin, XRP, Ethereum, Doge, BNB, and Solana. The goal was to determine which AI could best maximize profits. Four of the six AI models lost over 50 percent of their initial capital. OpenAI's ChatGPT performed the worst, ending with $3,794, a 63% loss. Google's Gemini was down 56%, finishing with $4,485. Elon Musk's Grok lost 45%, ending with $5,226, while Anthropic's Claude Sonnet had a 30% loss, finishing with $6,740. Only two Chinese AI models, Deepseek and Qwen, managed to generate profits.
