A private jet owned by NASCAR star Greg Biffle crashed while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of seven people. The passengers included Biffle, his wife Cristina, their five-year-old son Ryder, and Biffle's 14-year-old daughter Emma.
Also killed in the crash were Craig Wadsworth and Dennis Dutton with his son Jack. Cristina Biffle's mother, Cathy Grossu, revealed that her daughter had sent a text message stating, "We're in trouble," just minutes before the crash occurred.
The group was reportedly traveling to Florida for a birthday trip. Flight data suggests the plane may have experienced a mechanical issue, as it circled back to the airport after initially taking off.
NASCAR released a statement expressing devastation over the loss, remembering Biffle as a champion driver and beloved member of the community.
