These NYC-area hospitals aced patient safety in new rankings — see which ones nearly flunked

The Leapfrog Group's latest patient safety rankings reveal that two dozen hospitals in the NYC area received an "A" grade, indicating strong performance in protecting patients from preventable medical errors. Top-rated institutions include those overseen by NewYork-Presbyterian, Northwell Health, and NYU Langone Health, along with Mount Sinai Queens. NYU Langone Health specifically noted its achievement of 11 consecutive "A" grades nationwide, highlighting its commitment to safe, high-quality care. NewYork-Presbyterian emphasized its rigorous safety protocols and the dedication of its care teams. Conversely, six NYC-area hospitals received significantly lower grades, with Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Interfaith Medical Center, NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, Woodhull facilities, St. John's Episcopal Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital earning "D" ratings.
