One person died and another sustained critical injuries when two helicopters collided in midair in southern New Jersey on Sunday. The crash occurred near Hammonton Municipal Airport in Atlantic County around 11:25 a.m. involving an Enstrom F-28A and an Enstrom 280C helicopter.
First responders found one of the helicopters engulfed in flames, which fire crews extinguished. Both aircraft were occupied only by their pilots. One pilot was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Video circulating on social media appears to show one of the helicopters falling from the sky. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation into the cause of the collision.
