Leaked text messages allege that Paul Ingrassia, nominated by Donald Trump to be the U.S. special counsel, admitted to having a "Nazi streak" and expressed disdain for holidays honoring Black heritage. The messages, exposed by Politico, reportedly show Ingrassia calling Martin Luther King Jr. Day the "1960s George Floyd" and advocating for the "evisceration" of Kwanzaa, MLK Jr. Day, Black History Month, and Juneteenth. He also allegedly used a slur for Black people and made comments suggesting that "whites built the country."
These alleged remarks were made in group chats with Republican operatives and influencers in early and May 2024. In response to some of Ingrassia's comments, one person in a chat reportedly said Ingrassia belonged in the "Hitler Youth." Ingrassia's lawyer, Edward Andrew Paltzik, suggested the texts might be manipulated or taken out of context, claiming they were intended as satirical humor to mock liberals who call MAGA supporters "Nazis." Paltzik also stated that Ingrassia has significant support from the Jewish community and is not a Nazi.
