Thai waitress Chomnad Singaod found a fanny pack containing £4,700, passports, and credit cards. She discovered the bag outside the Queen Club bar in Pattaya after finishing her night shift. After checking its contents and realizing the significant value, she contacted the authorities.
Singaod initially thought the bag might belong to a colleague but was shocked by the large amount of foreign currency. To protect herself from any accusations, she filmed the contents as evidence. She stated that she never considered keeping the money, which amounted to ten times her salary, believing it would be bad karma.
Reviewing CCTV footage with her colleagues, Singaod identified the owner as 48-year-old Australian Shane Steven Mark Gabrielli. The footage showed Gabrielli resting outside the bar and then leaving without the bag. Singaod then handed the fanny pack and the security video to the local police station.
