Dunnes Stores has issued an urgent recall for two popular herb products, Dunnes Stores Sage (10g) and Dunnes Stores Herbes de Provence (14g), sold in Northern Ireland. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the products may contain pieces of blue plastic and large natural stalks and bark, posing a serious choking risk.
The Food Standards Agency confirmed the recall following information provided by Dunnes' supplier, GM Marketing. Initially, only some batches of Dunnes Stores Sage were recalled on November 17, but the recall was extended the following day to include Dunnes Stores Herbes de Provence as well.
Customers who have purchased the affected batches of these herbs are strongly advised not to consume them. Instead, they should return the products to the Dunnes Stores where they were purchased for a full refund.
No receipt is required. Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in stores to inform customers about the recall and provide instructions on how to proceed if they have already bought the items.
The specific affected batches and their best-before dates are Dunnes Stores Sage, batch codes L25279228, L25280228, L25307228, and L25308228, with a best-before date of June 2027. For Dunnes Stores Herbes de Provence, the affected batch code is L25315225, with a best-before date of September 2027.
Dunnes Stores has apologized for the inconvenience and stated that the recall is a precautionary measure to ensure customer safety.
