A potential overboard incident occurred on the Carnival Radiance cruise ship off the coast north of Ensenada, Mexico. Guests reported hearing a splash and a potential sighting of an individual in the water.
In response, the ship returned to the area to conduct a rescue operation. Carnival Cruise Line confirmed their crew responded to the overboard alert and was conducting a rescue operation.
The company stated that a full guest and crew headcount was completed as part of their standard safety protocol, and all individuals on board have been accounted for. The splash was speculated to possibly be a whale, but this could not be confirmed.
The ship was en route back to Long Beach, California, from Mexico when the alert was issued. Passengers on board reported that the individual may have been watching dolphins near the back of the boat when they went overboard, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.
Despite the rescue efforts, all passengers and crew were accounted for, and the ship is expected to resume its itinerary.
