Extra police powers after man shot and boy stabbed

Merseyside Police have been granted additional powers, including the authority to stop and search individuals under Section 60 orders, in the Knowsley area following two violent incidents. A 19-year-old man was shot in the back and leg in Huyton on Friday evening, and a 15-year-old boy was stabbed earlier that day in Stockbridge Village. Both teenagers are in a serious but stable condition in hospital. While detectives are keeping an open mind about whether the incidents are connected, they are treating them as targeted attacks.
