Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 57, has been indicted by a grand jury on a murder charge in the fatal shooting of actor Jonathan Joss. Joss, 59, known for his voice role as John Redcorn on "King of the Hill," died on June 1 after being shot at his San Antonio, Texas home.
Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, reported witnessing the shooting and stated that Joss was targeted due to his sexuality following years of threats. Gonzales also mentioned that their former home had burned down three months prior due to similar homophobic threats.
Alvarez, identified as Joss' neighbor, was arrested in June and subsequently released on a $200,000 bond. He later confessed to intentionally discharging a weapon at Joss.
While police investigated, they did not find sufficient evidence to classify Joss' death as a hate crime. Alvarez's attorney maintains that his client acted in self-defense.
