Strictly Come Dancing star's emotional response to discovering husband's affair with co-star

Alex Kingston, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, has spoken about the emotional toll of discovering her first husband, Ralph Fiennes, was having an affair with his co-star Francesca Annis. Kingston and Fiennes met in 1983 while studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and married in 1993. Their marriage ended when Fiennes began an affair with Annis, who was 18 years his senior and co-starring with him in Hamlet. Kingston described feeling "worthless" and having "so little self-esteem" after the divorce, admitting that she considered ending her own life. She stated that while divorce was awful, she did not regret it as it shaped who she is today. Kingston later married German writer Florian Haertel, with whom she had a daughter, before their divorce was finalized in 2013. She is now married to television presenter Jonathan Stamp.
