Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife Christina Grossu, his 14-year-old daughter Emma Elizabeth, and his young son Ryder Jack were among six people killed in a private jet crash at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina on Thursday. The 55-year-old Biffle, a NASCAR legend named one of the sport's 75 greatest drivers, had obtained his pilot's license just nine months prior to the accident, which occurred around 10:15 am.
Biffle, who had a distinguished career with 19 Cup Series victories, also had extensive experience as a helicopter pilot. He had recently been using his flying skills for hurricane relief efforts following Hurricane Helene, rescuing stranded individuals and delivering essential supplies. His wife, Christina, was a real estate agent who had recently launched her own company and had also published a children's book. The couple married in January 2023, and Biffle also had a daughter, Emma, from a previous marriage. Tributes poured in from friends and fellow racing figures, highlighting Biffle's accomplishments on the track and his dedication to helping others.
