The index, which tracks the output of the region's manufacturing and service sectors, rose from 45.2 in September to 49.4 in October. While a score below 50 still indicates economic contraction, NatWest noted an underlying improvement in conditions.
New orders for local private sector companies increased for the first time since March, placing Yorkshire and Humber among six UK regions experiencing demand growth. Businesses expressed greater optimism for the year ahead, citing factors such as acquisitions, new product development, and capacity expansions as reasons for their positive outlook.
